Linking up with The Reading Residence http://www.thereadingresidence.com/ again for Word of the Week.
My word is BACK – Back to school, Back to work, Back to routine.
My daughter started year 5 on Wednesday. I returned to work after two lovely weeks off. And the daily routine is back.
The Greeting Card Association (GCA) have launched a new special week to highlight the emotional power of sending and receiving greeting cards. The aim is to create a wave of love, caring and happiness across the nation by joining together to send a card a day to different people during the last week in September.
I’m all for sending some love. Does anyone want to join me? The cards don’t have to be sent via the post, you could pop one through your neighbours letterbox?

I’ve seem a few random acts of kindness on Instagram recently and I was intrigued. What a fabulous idea, I love it.
Our neighbour very kindly cleared our front garden of weeds and brambles so we can put bark down. We hadn’t asked him, he just did it yesterday whilst we were out. I’ve bought him some beers to say thank you.
It’s a lovely feeling to receive a random act of kindness, which makes me realise it’s just as nice if not better to give a random act of kindness.
I shall be on the lookout for a way I can pay this forward.
We visited a village on Salisbury plain called Imber it’s residents were asked to leave in 1943 so it could be used by the US army. The villagers believed they’d get their village back but it never happened.
It’s only open certain times of the year and it’s not accessible outside of these times.
The church is one of the few remaining original buildings left. The army built purpose built houses for their use.
It was a weird place to visit, very surreal and almost spooky. I couldn’t imagine being asked to leave my home never to return.
This was once the pub! Sadly they weren’t serving an ice cold cider today!
This is my first ‘Word of the week’ as I’m new to blogging.

I can think of two words for this week which is cheating but they’re both strong contenders.
My daughter turned 9 this week and we’ve had a busy week for her. She had a friend to sleepover, we went to see ‘Maleficent’ at the cinema, took her to an ice cream parlour on her birthday and today it was her party! Phew!
And a close second is BATHROOM.
We’re refurbishing our bathroom and this week we’ve had our floor and walls tiled. There’s been a lot of preparation for this. Tuesday our tiler came out to lay the underlay type thing for the floor, then he tiled the floor on Thursday. Last night my partner and I were preparing the walls for the tiling today!
So my word(s) are Birthday and Bathroom.
I’ll only have one next time…. Promise
My daughter turned 9 today, I can’t believe it’s been 9 years since she was born.
We took her to Sprinkles in town for a treat, she couldn’t finish her sundae!
Like most other 9 year olds she loves Minecraft! So her present was the PC version of the game and another game which is similar, Terraria. Whilst in town she bought a book about Minecraft and a Minecraft poster with some of her birthday money. Tea tonight will be her favourite pizza 🙂
I love smells, I think I have a keen nose. These are some of my favourites
- Fresh air
- Clean washing
- Fresh bread
I feel very thankful I have all of my senses, I can’t imagine life without any of them.
What are your favourites?
I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, even if it’s just a diary of sorts for me to look back on. I’m aware that time is going far too fast, my daughter will be 9 this year and I’m fast approaching 40!
There’a lots of things I want to learn, to knit is one, to take better photos is another but most importantly I want to learn to make time for me.
I hope to make lots of happy memories for my daughter, right now I feel I’m losing her to the world of minecraft so I need to pull her back into reality.
I work part time, in a job I enjoy with people I like.
We have a house that needs redecorating, a garden that needs an overhaul so watch this space.
Thanks for reading, welcome to my little world.
